Humankind lingers unregenerately in Plato's cave, still reveling, its age-old habit, in mere images of the truth. - Susan Sontag "In Plato's Cave"

I chose to comment on this excerpt because it a key concept of her relating photographs to human knowledge. Like the shadows of the images in Plato's cave, Sontag says that pictures reveal insight into truth and knowledge. Humans can learn a lot about themselves and the world around them through images. Every image is a representation of an idea or a truth that humans can discover through analyzation.
